The Boer's Men

Let’s talk about Pantheon Security Solutions, and their leader in the field, Nelius van Jaarsveld, a.k.a. The Boer, as he is uncharitably known to tunnel Denizens. 

These chappies are well-funded, well-equipped and generally graduates of the School of Hard Knocks, though some of them were excluded for dubious conduct. Most are hardened ex-military types, with a fair number from the USMC. 

They are considered by many other tunnel-factions to be a bunch of meat-headed, heavy-handed and too quick to resort to crude and excessive solutions. They are, however, competent, efficient and quick about their work, especially under the Boer’s eye. 

Van Jaarsveld himself is, as name and nickname might suggest, South African by birth, and a veteran of the Summonings-period military operations as part of his nation’s armed forces. He’s boisterous, thuggish and staunchly objective-oriented. He’s not a friendly man, but he is extraordinarily loyal to his team, and treats them well. A ruggedly competent leader. There’s a rumour that he sends half of his pay to the families of two deceased team members, but no-one is quite sure. 

Even so, to the more even-handed and laid-back denizens of the Roussel Zone, Pantheon are seen as a bunch of bullies and vandals to be avoided and muttered about. To the holistic Druids they are destructive, to the peaceful Faithful they are violent, to Cheller’s disreputable locals they are trouble, and to small teams like Paladin, they are the favourites of the management. To the UN, well, they get the job done. 

To those who roam out from the Demon city of Crux, they are a scourge. Van Jaarsveld has a price on his head in glittering golden coins, but who can trust a Demon’s word?
